What You'll Do
As the Centre Manager, you'll lead the daily operations of the Chinatown Heritage Centre, ensuring smooth, high-quality experiences for every visitor. You’ll be at the heart of our heritage and tourism efforts, managing a team of staff and guides, maintaining service standards, and driving operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee all aspects of daily operations of CHC, including tours, retail, exhibitions, ticketing, and visitor services.
- Ensure smooth front-of-house operations and coordinate team logistics effectively.
- Recruit, schedule and manage in-house and freelance guides.
- Lead, train, and support front-line staff to ensure strong team performance and service delivery.
- Develop and implement training plans to ensure accurate and engaging delivery of tour content.
- Foster a strong team culture among guides to boost pride and professionalism.
- Ensure high service standards through prompt issue resolution and continuous improvement of visitor experience and tour flow.
- Conduct regular staff evaluations and compile key performance metrics, including visitor feedback, for internal reporting to the Executive Director.
- Manage revenue collection and reporting from ticketing, retail, and tours.
- Liaise with tour operators, schools, and community partners to build strong external relationships.
- Oversee service vendors and ensure contracts are well-executed and maintained effectively.
- A degree in Business, Tourism, Hospitality, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in operations and team leadership, ideally in tourism, heritage, or attractions.
- Proven experience working with freelance or volunteer guides.
- Excellent communication, organisational, and people management skills.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced, visitor-focused environment.
