Data Centre Ops Job Description

A Data Centre (DC) Operator will monitor the daily operations and maintenance of a DC within their core of duty, ensuring smooth and efficient server environments, monitoring systems, and access control.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operations and Maintenance:
To monitor day-to-day operations and maintenance of DC facilities, including hardware, software, networking, access control security systems, UPS and CRAC units.
  • System Monitoring and level 1.5 Troubleshooting:
Monitor the performance and availability of DC Infrastructure systems, identify and resolve technical issues, and preventative measures.
  • Security and Compliance:
Maintain security protocols and procedures, ensuring compliance with client’s standards and regulations.
  • DC Vendor Management:
Monitor vendors and contractors, ensuring timely delivery of services and equipment with approved ITSM Base Service Request.
  • Backup tapes Management:
To handle Backup Tapes for offsite storage and prepare input manifest.
  • Communication and Monitoring:
Communicate effectively with team members, including DC Lead, DC management, clients and main suppler (DC Facilities).
  • Documentation and Bookkeeping:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation / filing of DC systems, procedures, policies.
  • Emergency Response:

Acting on procedures for responding to emergencies, such as power outages, fire, and security breaches.
