Role purpose
The primary function of the Technical Director – Waste Operations & Resource Recovery is to develop GHD’s offering for the Southeast Asia (SEA) Waste market drawing on international technical authority across APAC, EMEA and the Americas.
Key responsibilities- Champion, define, plan, and deliver resource recovery and waste management services across SEA and more broadly across APAC.
- Lead and input on tenders/bids as well as being proactive in pursuing client proposals, pursuing relations with clients and developing opportunities.
- Assess market trends and identify future market opportunities in waste management and resource recovery services, converting them into future projects.
- Work across GHD regions, disciplines, service lines, and teams to support waste management and resource recovery consulting services and projects.
- Develop and mentor team members to deliver quality work on time and within budget, supporting their career growth.
- Provide leadership, direction, and technical guidance on projects, including serving as a Project Director or Manager.
- Engage and collaborate with the Waste Service Line community, and other multi-discipline project teams, maintaining good relationships to ensure project outcomes and satisfaction.
- Work collaboratively within the APAC region and other regions to position for opportunities, supporting SEA in developing technical waste operations and resource recovery capability.
- Adhere to all GHD QA and HSE requirements, working cooperatively with other staff, sharing information and knowledge openly.
- Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills to foster open dialogue, ensuring clarity and effectiveness in all interactions.
- Lead the preparation and review of reports, obtaining precise information about work scope from clients through active listening and clear communication.
- Degree in Engineering from a recognised University and with at least 15 years of experience in waste management, operations, and/or resource recovery.
- Singapore Professional Engineering (PE) status or Chartered Engineering certification.
- Experience in waste and resource recovery feasibilities, design, operations and/or studies would be an added advantage.
- Conversant in relevant Codes, Eurocodes, BS Codes, NFPA, API.
- Conversant with local authorities’ requirement and submission.
- Able to lead diversified and multi-disciplinary teams.
- Able to project manage assigned projects independently and possess strong presentation, communication and report writing skills.
