About the Role

Reporting to the Group Finance Director, the Group Finance Controller directly assists the Group Finance Director on all strategic and tactical financial accounting matters for all Group entities as they relate to financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cost-benefit analyses, risk management and internal controls, and cash flow monitoring/management/treasury, etc.

To work closely with the Group Finance Director to attain operational excellence, promote effective internal controls, manage organizational risks, streamline processes, optimize revenue and cost structures, increase productivity, and seek continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the accurate preparation, meaningful development, timely submission and consistent monitoring of high-quality management reports, such as Profit and Loss Statements and Balance Sheets, of all hotel-level, corporate-level, and consolidated entities (“Group entities”), with attention to detail among line items and across entities within weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting deadlines.
  • Ensure financial reports are in strong compliance with the latest Uniform System of Accounts for the Lodging Industry (USALI) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), meeting statutory reporting requirements and deadlines.
  • Ensure that journal entries are supported with sufficient and appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Apply and enforce clear, consistent, logic-based treatment for items to be depreciated, amortized or expensed across entities.
  • Review PMS, POS, Netsuite, and other core system reports for evidence of daily reconciliations, timely follow-up and satisfactory resolution.
  • Assist and participate in the monthly financial reviews for all Group entities and collaborate with respective team members to analyze business performance, assess reasonableness of forecasts, variances against comparison periods, measure key performance indicators (KPIs) and other matrices, identify trends, and provide actionable insights to drive business decisions.
  • Create, implement, enhance, and streamline compliance and internal control procedures and processes to safeguard financial assets, manage business risks, and ensure accurate, timely and high-quality financial reporting.
  • Write, implement, educate on, and enforce SOPs that support a strong internal control framework, promote workflow efficiency, endorse sound accounting practices and enhance financial and operational reporting.
  • Work with Finance and operational teams to organize regular fixed asset, operating equipment and inventory counts. Ensure Fixed Assets registers and inventory records are accurate, current and complete at all times.
  • Oversee the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors for all Group entities, communicate results and implement corrective actions to ensure a good internal control environment of accounting, self-audit, principles, and policies.
  • Assist in managing tax compliance matters, including tax planning, tax returns, and tax audits.
  • Ascertain that financial and tax reporting and audits are completed timely to meet statutory reporting and annual filing deadlines for all Group entities.
  • Prepare, review and monitor all cashflow or rolling forecasts for all Group entities. Present and execute plans to ensure that all entities’ requirements are covered. Provide ample advance warning of shortfalls or plan fixed deposit placements on surplus to prevent interest penalty or maximize interest income.
  • Ensure that statutory payments (pension schemes, individual or business income tax, goods and services tax, etc.) are made prior to due dates.
  • Assist in maintaining NetSuite financial management system, including issue resolution, enhancements and customizations, project management, and housekeeping tasks, to ensure efficient and effective process flow, controls, authorization and structure.
  • Collaborate closely with Assets/Treasury and other sister entities to enable accurate and prompt invoicing, recording, reconciling and repayment of all intercompany charges, management fees, service fees, support fees and/or other reimbursables, in accordance with the approved transfer pricing scheme.
  • Serve as a mentor and coach to the Finance team, fostering a culture of collaboration, growth, and excellence, and supporting all Finance colleagues in their absence or whenever necessary.
  • Pre-empt, communicate exceptions and anomalies on all matters, and make recommendations to Group Finance Director to uphold a “no surprises” work environment.
  • Perform any other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned.
Who You Are
  • Degree in Accountancy / Finance or equivalent.
  • CPA or ACCA certified.
  • 10-15 years of experience in progressive finance roles in the hospitality or related industries; ideally with 2-4 years in external accounting firms.
  • Candidates with strong business operating knowledge in Australasia and the United Arab Emirates will have a distinct advantage.
  • Has good business acumen and is macro in thought.
  • Has an eye for detail and is highly meticulous.

  • Current knowledge of the hospitality industry and market trends. Expert knowledge of USALI.
  • Mastery in financial accounting principles and practices, with a deep understanding of financial statements, cash flow management, and financial analysis.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional and cross-country teams.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Working knowledge of Netsuite and Opera is highly advantageous.
