Research Fellow (Neural Gene Therapy) - Choa Chu Kang

The School of Chemistry, Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology (CCEB) invites applications for the position of Research Fellow in Prof. Sheena’s team. The team is seeking a motivated and experienced Research Fellow to develop and evaluate viral vectors for CNS delivery and therapeutic expression in preclinical models.

Key Responsibilities:

• Engineering and evaluation of vector constructs for BBB and neurotropic targeting
• In vivo validation in murine models of neurodegenerative disease and/or brain cancer
• Cellular and molecular characterisation using flow cytometry, confocal and advanced neural imaging
• Culture and transduction of primary and immortalised mammalian cell lines
• Laboratory management and supervision and training of students

Job Requirements:

• PhD in Neuroscience, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
• Proven expertise in rodent handling and in vivo delivery techniques, including intracerebroventricular (ICV) and intravenous (IV) administration
• Proven expertise in rodent models of neurological diseases, including those related to neuro-oncology, neurodegeneration, and/or monogenic disorders.
• Proficiency in flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, and neural tissue preparation
• Experience in cell culture, ideally including primary cell systems and organoids
• Prior experience with gene delivery systems (e.g., adenovirus, AAV, lentivirus, or LNPs) is preferred.
• Experience in analysing the biodistribution of protein-based therapeutics (e.g., antibodies, cytokines) is also advantageous
• Strong publication record and proven experience in scientific leadership
• Ability to work independently, mentor and train junior researchers, and communicate results effectively in both oral and written form
