Agriculture Technician Officer (North/ Contract)

The Role
As a Technical Support Officer, you will play an essential role in supporting the daily operations of greenhouse, glasshouse, and agritech facilities. Your responsibilities include hands‑on plant care, maintaining cultivation systems, and ensuring smooth operational support for academic and project activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations across the Greenhouse, Glasshouse, and Agriculture Technology Labs, ensuring all plant growth systems (e.g., hydroponics, mobile gully, nutrient film technique, vertical growing systems) run efficiently
- Manage end‑to‑end plant care, including seeding, transplanting, harvesting, and monitoring plant nutrition
- Conduct routine plant health assessments—such as watering, pruning, and fertilizing—to maintain optimal growth
- Track environmental and system parameters within controlled‑environment facilities, and assist in gathering production and environmental data
- Perform regular maintenance of tools, equipment, and cultivation systems to ensure reliability and safety
- Coordinate with external vendors for facility upkeep and equipment servicing
- Maintain inventory of plants, consumables, and operational equipment
- Support administrative tasks such as processing lab requests, procurement of materials, and documentation
- Prepare instructional and project materials for practical classes, workshops, and student activities
- Assist in hosting guided tours for visitors and stakeholders who come to the facility
- Provide weekend or public holiday support when urgent issues arise within the facility
- Diploma in Horticulture, Agriculture, Agricultural Science, or related fields such as Urban Agricultural Technology
- Prior experience in areas like outdoor farming, mushroom cultivation, or insect farming (e.g., cricket rearing) will be an added advantage
- Basic mechanical aptitude and comfort working with equipment or systems
- Team‑oriented individual with adaptability and a proactive approach to problem‑solving
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow operational protocols
- Comfortable communicating and liaising with internal stakeholders and external vendors
- Willingness to occasionally support operations on weekends or public holidays when required
