Job Description
  • In line with the strategic priorities of the company, to develop commercial strategies, to set out strategic plans and determine strategic priorities in line with the company's goals and objectives on the basis of the Business Unit they are responsible for.
  • To closely follow up the business fields and models in the current and potential countries within the Business Unit as well as the local legislation, policies and regulations in force.
  • To analyze the needs and expectations, profitability and sales conditions of customers within the scope of the Business Unit and to conduct proposal/tender feasibility processes.
  • To review and maintain commercial contracts by fulfilling the existing contractual obligations and evaluating contract performance, to increase the revenues through amendments of contracts where necessary, and to provide the contract capacity and/or extension of the term.
  • To evaluate alternative strategies for more efficient execution of the contract.
  • To ensure that contract management is carried out in an orderly manner by mastering the terms and conditions of the contracts, to monitor whether customers fulfill their obligations or not and to make timely and systematic notifications.
  • To increase the market share by conducting a market research, market intelligence, competitor analysis studies on potential countries and/or projects within the scope of the Business Unit, and by to means of following the activities of competitors.
  • To review and determine requests for proposals/tenders and contractual terms for new commercial contracts.
  • To carry out the signature processes of new commercial contracts, to communicate the new commercial contracts to all relevant stakeholders inside and outside the company.
  • To prepare detailed project and time plan for the post-contractual process and to assign project tasks.
  • To monitor and control progress on post-contractual project tasks up to COD for commercial contracts.
  • To organize and manage all license and permit processes related to new and ongoing commercial contracts, regulations and operational processes, to ensure that these licenses and permits be obtained, maintained and renewed on their due time, and to manage external relations and official correspondence on these issues.
  • To manage the termination of existing commercial contracts when necessary.
  • To ensure that collection performance is retained at a high level by monitoring the continuity of payment guarantees.
  • To ensure customer satisfaction by evaluating whether the expectations of the customer and other related parties within the scope of the commercial contract are fulfilled.
  • To manage and strengthen existing relationships with local partners on the basis of reliability and continuity, and to establish new relationships as required.
  • To participate in and manage the decision-making processes regarding the commercial terms of the fuel trading and supply processes carried out with the customer.
  • To participate in/support HFO, LNG, NG and other related activities which are carried out in the fuel trade sector.
  • To determine customer relations and corporate communication strategies and commercial maneuvers.
  • To organize local marketing and corporate communication activities and engage with the local community through corporate social responsibility activities.
  • To establish, conduct and manage relations with official and governmental authorities as a representative of the company.
  • To manage the entire commercial process for joint ventures, partnerships and mergers and acquisitions. To conduct feasibility studies, to manage relationships with external stakeholders (Consultants, Legal, Investment Bank, etc.), to manage post-partnership, merger and acquisition processes.
  • To track, report and reconcile commercial sales targets.
  • In collaboration with other EMC members, to prepare monthly, quarterly or annual business reports with all commercial, financial and operational data of the relevant Business Unit and to present them to the Chairperson and the Business Unit Board of Directors.
  • To ensure that expenditures are managed in line with the Business Unit budget, to remain in compliance with the budget in all expense items of the offices and Head Office departments in the relevant countries under their responsibility, to monitor and report the budget realization.
  • To create and maintain effective coordination with leaders, teams and other departments within the Business Unit through periodic meetings, and to ensure that the necessary reports, support and accurate data are provided to internal stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • To coordinate relevant stakeholders and to manage processes for cultural implementation and team motivation activities.
  • To coordinate all central units and to act jointly as required

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Demonstrable experience as a Commercial Director, Sales Director or similar role with a minimum of 15 years in business development or commercial management.
  • Extensive experience in market analysis and strategic planning with a proven track record of achieving revenue targets and business growth.
  • Strong understanding of market dynamics, sales strategies and business development principles in the African context.
  • Expertise in market research, data analysis, financial forecasting and budgeting.
  • Excellent team leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • High level of analytical and strategic thinking, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to multitask and work well under strict deadlines and fast paced environment
  • Ability to work with and understand diverse cultures here and abroad
  • Experience developing and managing commercial agreements with customers and vendors.
  • Frequent travel to designated countries.
  • Strong Microsoft Office computer skills, with emphasis on Excel.
  • English & French fluency (oral and written) is a must.
