TRAIL (Translational Research and Innovation Lab) serves to accelerate the development of new diagnostic tools and novel treatment/interventions through the translation of scientific discoveries discovered on the bench into the clinical space.
By bringing together both Pathology and Clinical domain experts in fields related (but not limited to) assay development, molecular diagnostics and proteomics assays, the laboratory aims to serve as an incubator to roll out novel assays/interventions developed by SingHealth/SGH Researchers for clinical care.
You will develop, optimize and maintain the analytical systems required by the laboratory. You will also conduct testing for laboratory tests and specialized investigations, assists in quality control programs and participates in the training of other technologists.
The main responsibilities includes (but not limited to) the following:
- Use data output from a wide range of specialized laboratory equipment and a range of softwares to perform routine and specialised tests
- Support, run and maintain pipeline analysis systems
- Ensure that analysis of pipelines and infrastructure conforms to established quality control standards
- Assists in establishing, implementing and monitoring quality control programs. Conducts day-to-day quality control activities
- Responsible for the optimizing of the analysis algorithms and bioinformatics pipelines
- Operate, manage and design pipeline analyses for genomic applications, including next generation sequencing and other molecular platforms
- Develop and manage informatics pipelines for read mapping of data generated
- Establish annotation pipelines and develop databases of mutations
- Senior position will also assist in the supervision of laboratory staff, participates in the training of other scientists/ technologists as well as doctors and students on attachment.
Job Requirements:
- PhD, Masters and/or Bachelor Degree in related field, including Life Sciences, Bioinformatics, Computing, or relevant degrees or equivalent, and minimum 1 year of relevant job experience, whichever applicable.
- Knowledge of script language and programming. Competent in Shell, Linux, Python, R and Perl scripts.
- Experience in Unix/Linux environment, building and installation of Open-Source Software (Bioinformatics software tools a plus)
- Prior experience in the following areas are preferable:
- Molecular biology and/or molecular geneticsm, cancer genomics or population genetics
- Next generation sequencing systems, running pipeline analysis or working with genomic or molecular data
- Running jobs on high-performance clusters (HPC)
