Medical Laboratory Technologist (Division of Pathology)

Job Description:
The Medical Laboratory Technologist conducts routine laboratory tests, specialised investigations, assists in quality control programs and participates in the training of other technologists.
The responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Performing basic laboratory analysis and verifying the results using established protocols and equipment
- Timely preparation of reagents and laboratory material used in assigned routine or specialised testing
- Performing and monitoring required quality control and maintains appropriate documentation
- Communicating results to stakeholders accurately and in a timely manner
- Compliance with protocols to ensure that potential risks/problems are minimised
- Taking active measures to reduce wastage and laboratory inefficiencies
- Using available laboratory data or information for daily work processes or troubleshooting of routine problems
- Effectivel monitoring and maintenance of equipment, inventory and supplies for smooth running of daily operations
- Compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements
Job Requirements:
- MSc in relevant discipline, or
- Degree in Biomedical Science, Biological Science, Medical Technology or equivalent, with minimum 1 year of relevant job experience and demonstrated competency, or
- Diploma in Biomedical Science, Medical Technology or equivalent, with minimum 6 years of relevant job experience and demonstrated competence
- Can work well both independently and in a team
- Possesses good interpersonal skills and leads by example
