About the Role
We are a leading multi-commodity agribusiness seeking a Senior Shipping Manager to lead our global shipping and documentation function. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence, strategic planning, and digital transformation in our shipping operations.You will act as a pivotal leader ensuring strong middle office management to safeguard the business while enabling growth and competitive advantage in the global supply chain.
Key Responsibilities- Strategic Leadership: Lead the Shipping & Documentation Department; set strategy, policies, and KPIs to support global business growth.
- Operational Excellence: Oversee the execution of bulk, containerized, and tanker shipments; ensure alignment with commercial and finance objectives.
- Digital Transformation: Drive digitalization, system implementation, and process optimization to enhance efficiency and transparency across the shipping portfolio.
- Documentation & Compliance: Manage charter parties, demurrage, marine insurance, and trade finance documentation; ensure compliance with Incoterms and international regulations.
- Middle Office Management: Ensure operational controls, accurate shipment data, and risk monitoring to safeguard trade execution.
- Team Development: Mentor and develop a high-performing Shipping and Cargo Operations department.
- Strong expertise in strategic planning and stakeholder management.
- Excellent knowledge of Incoterms, trade compliance, and international regulations.
- Skilled negotiator with strong commercial and risk management acumen.
- Inspirational leader with the ability to drive performance and organizational change.
- Strong focus on digital tools and process automation.
- 6 – 12 years of experience in shipping/logistics.
- At least 5 years in a departmental leadership role within Agri-Commodity shipping.
- Specific experience handling bulk, breakbulk, and container trade flows.
- Degree in Maritime Studies, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or a related business field.
- Expertise in charter party negotiations and demurrage claims management.
- Proficiency in marine insurance and trade finance instruments.
- Ability to align cross-functional teams (Commercial, Finance, Risk) to achieve commercial objectives.
