Legal Counsel (Bank) #FR (6 months - mat cover)

A local bank is looking a Legal Counsel to support them for 6 months (Mat Cover)

• Provide legal advice on all aspects of the Brokerage/Securities business, including financial products, credit transactions and investment activities.
• Draft and review bank documentation related to account management, credit products and investment offerings.
• Ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations across different jurisdictions, safeguarding the bank’s reputation and managing legal risks.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and different units on bank projects.
• Advise on regulatory issues as well as account-related matters, banking secrecy, data privacy, and cross-border business operations.
• Support the implementation of new initiatives and products, ensuring legal compliance and alignment with business objectives.
• Work closely with internal clients to meet their needs while overseeing legal considerations.
• Manage tight timelines for ongoing projects while supporting day-to-day business-as-usual matters efficiently.
• Oversee litigious matters and client disputes.

What you'll need to succeed

Your previous experience in a similar role will lead to your success, as you will ideally have:

• Law degree from an accredited institution.
• At least 5-7 years of proven record in banking and regulatory compliance, preferably within financial services, with a focus on brokerage/securities
• Some experience in litigation is preferred.
• Strong understanding of banking laws, regulations and best practices in Singapore and Malaysia.
