Planning Engineer
About the role
SMITECH is seeking a Planning Engineer to support the Planning Manager in project planning, scheduling, progress tracking and reporting for M&E construction projects in Singapore.
The successful candidate will work closely with the project delivery team, engineers, supervisors, subcontractors and management to monitor project progress, identify schedule risks, update project programmes and support timely project execution.
This project role is to be based on site on a 5.5-day work week.
Key Responsibilities- Support the Planning Manager in preparing, updating and maintaining project schedules using Primavera P6.
- Assist in developing baseline programmes, look-ahead schedules, recovery plans and progress updates for M&E construction works.
- Monitor actual site progress against planned schedule and highlight delays, constraints and critical path issues.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, supervisors, subcontractors and suppliers to collect progress updates and planning inputs.
- Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, schedule updates, dashboards and presentation materials for project meetings.
- Assist in analysing work sequences, resource planning, manpower deployment and construction methodology to support project delivery.
- Track key project milestones, deliverables, dependencies and interface activities across M&E work packages.
- Support delay analysis, Extension of Time preparation and documentation where required.
- Maintain proper planning records, progress data, programme revisions and supporting documents.
- Attend site coordination meetings and provide planning support to the project team.
- Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of planning experience in construction, infrastructure, M&E or related project environment.
- Hands-on experience using Primavera P6 is required.
- Good understanding of construction sequencing, project scheduling, progress measurement and project reporting.
- Able to interpret project drawings, work programmes, technical documents and site progress information.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and project reporting tools.
- Good coordination, communication and follow-up skills.
- Able to work independently while supporting the Planning Manager and wider project team.
- Candidates with M&E construction project experience will have an advantage.
