About the role
We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Manager, Logistics to join our team. This full-time role is responsible leading our logistics teams, ensuring efficient and cost-effective delivery of goods and services.
What you'll be doing
Logistics Operations Management:
- Lead and manage the logistics team, overseeing all functions related to freight, transport and supply boats
- Handle import, export, or transhipment shipments for both airfreight and sea freight
- Schedule and coordinate local trucking and boat orders
- Ensure the timely and accurate preparation of shipping documents for cargo arrival and dispatch
- Communicate and coordinate effectively with clients on all logistics matters
- Review and streamline work processes to enhance efficiency and productivity
- Liaise with internal departments, external vendors, and clients regarding shipment schedules
- Monitor and manage the maintenance and repairs of trucks and supply boats
- Generate reports on strategic analysis and operations productivity
- Optimize department resources based on functional needs
- Foster a resilient workforce through continuous learning and development
- Assign tasks to support operations and collaborate with other departments
- Assist in securing new customers and revenue streams by identifying leads and opportunities for the sales team
- Ensure compliance with quality standards including ISO certification
People and Organizational Management:
- Provide leadership,coaching and development to team members to enhance engagement and drive business results.
- Oversee departmental budgeting and cost control to meet financial targets through effective resource management
- Foster a value-based culture of accountability and high performance within the organisation.
- Lead and develop a high performing team by attracting, retaining and mentoring talent
- Implement competency assessment models for training and development, aligning with the company’s succession planning and learning initiatives.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by your superior
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics & Supply Chain, Business, or related field/ discipline
- Minimum 5-8 years of experience in a logistics or supply chain management role, preferably within the manufacturing, transport, or logistics industry
- Strong understanding of logistics operations, including inventory management, transportation, and warehouse management
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify and implement process improvements
- Proficient in data analysis and reporting, with experience using relevant software and tools
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally
- Adaptable and resourceful, with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges
