Production Technician (Assembly)

Position Overview:

Responsible for assembling, testing, and troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical, electronic, optoelectronic and Laser assembly systems in accordance with engineering specifications and quality standards. This role involves reading technical drawings and schematics, using precision tools and instruments, and working closely with engineering and production teams to ensure efficient and accurate assembly of the products.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assemble mechatronic systems and subassemblies using hand tools, power tools, and precision instruments.
• Interpret engineering drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and work instructions.
• Follow Bills of Materials (BOMs) and standard operating procedures (SOPs) accurately.
• Perform functional and diagnostic tests on assembled systems to verify performance.
• Document and report non-conformities, working closely with engineering and quality teams for resolution.
• Inspect completed assemblies for compliance with technical standards and tolerances.
• Ensure all work meets internal and external quality requirements, including ISO/AS or customer-specific standards.
• Provide feedback to engineering teams regarding design-for-assembly improvements.
• Contribute to the development of assembly techniques to enhance productivity and reliability.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with health and safety regulations. Wear appropriate PPE when required.
• Follow Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) and ESD (electrostatic discharge) protocols where applicable.
• Maintain accurate records of assembly, test results, repairs, and modifications.
• Report to line leader on daily output and ensure OTD as well as quality expectation are met.

Prerequisites:

• GCE ’N’ Level or Technical Certificate and above.
• 2-3 years experience in manufacturing industry.
• Preferably with Mechatronic Assembly experience.
• Able to interpret electrical and electronic schematic.
• Able to communicate and interpersonal relationship skill.
• Has computer knowledge e.g: Excel, Word.
• Able to read and write English.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Can work under minimum supervision.
