JOB SUMMARY

To support the delivery of safe, high-quality, and person-centred nursing care by supervising nursing staff, strengthening clinical practices, and ensuring compliance with Ministry of Health regulatory and organisational standards. The ANC serves as a clinical leader, role model, and resource person to promote excellence in resident care.

JOB SCOPE
  1. Clinical Leadership and Care Delivery
  • Oversee and support the delivery of nursing care, including complex cases, admissions, transfers, discharges, and emergency response.
  • Evaluate and review resident care to ensure alignment with care plans, clinical standards, and best practices.
  • Provide direct clinical supervision and guidance to nurses and care staff through nursing rounds and case reviews.
  • Actively participate in resident care and clinical discussions to identify and address care gaps.
  • Support care coordination across multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, therapists, pharmacists, and dietitians.
  • Engage residents and families in care planning and promote a holistic, person-centred approach.
  • Maintain a safe environment for residents and staff, including the investigation and management of incidents and implementation of preventive measures.
  1. Quality Assurance and Clinical Governance
  • Ensure compliance with MOH and Singapore Nursing Board (SNB) standards, as well as organisational policies and procedures.
  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives, including audits, clinical indicators, and outcome monitoring.
  • Identify areas for clinical improvement and lead or support quality improvement projects and evidence-based practice initiatives.
  • Monitor clinical trends, emerging care needs, and service gaps within the ward.
  • Support the development, review, and implementation of clinical policies, protocols, and care guidelines.
  1. Training, Education and Staff Development
  • Provide mentorship, coaching, and clinical supervision to nursing staff and students.
  • Support orientation, in-service education, and competency-based training programmes.
  • Reinforce good clinical practices, infection control standards, and proper use of equipment and resources.
  • Assess staff competencies, provide regular feedback, and support performance appraisal processes.
  • Foster a positive clinical learning environment and act as a role model in professional nursing practice.
  1. Staff and Operations Management
  • Assist Nurse Manager (NM), Nurse Clinician (NC), and nursing leadership in manpower planning and ensuring adequate staffing levels.
  • Supervise and monitor staff performance, ensuring adherence to clinical standards, policies, and service expectations.
  • Promote teamwork, effective communication, and a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Support coordination of staff deployment, orientation, and role transitions.
  • Deputise for the Nurse Manager, Nurse Clinician, or Director of Nursing as required
  1. Planning, Coordination and Administration
  • Support the development and monitoring of key performance indicators for clinical quality and service delivery.
  • Assist in maintaining clinical data, documentation, and reporting systems.
  • Facilitate communication across departments and care settings to ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in committees, case conferences, and organisational initiatives as assigned.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing or senior management.
  1. Professional Role and Conduct
  • Serve as a clinical role model, upholding professional nursing standards and organisational values.
  • Demonstrate leadership in fostering safe, compassionate, and ethical care practices.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and contribute to advancing nursing practice within the organisation.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Registered Nurse with a valid practising licence from the Singapore Nursing Board (SNB).
  • Degree or Diploma in Nursing (recognised by SNB); Advanced Diploma or relevant clinical specialisation is an advantage.
  • Typically 8–10 years of nursing experience, including:
  • At least 5–10 years as a Senior Staff Nurse in acute, community, or long-term care settings; or
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or similar advanced practice role in a nursing home or hospital setting.
  • Demonstrated experience in clinical supervision, quality improvement, and staff development.
  • Demonstrate recent professional practice in a relevant clinical setting.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
