Head of Institutional Sales (ASEAN)

We are partnering with a regional brokerage platform to appoint a seasoned and commercially driven Head of Institutional Sales – ASEAN. Reporting directly to senior management, this leadership role will oversee institutional sales coverage across Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia, with responsibility for driving regional client engagement, revenue growth, and market expansion initiatives.

The successful candidate will possess strong knowledge of global equity markets, particularly the US, China/Hong Kong, and ASEAN, alongside a well-established network within the institutional buy-side community, primarily in equities. This individual will play a key role in strengthening client relationships, enhancing cross-border market connectivity, and identifying new business opportunities across the region.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage ASEAN institutional sales teams to drive regional business performance and client coverage.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with institutional investors and institutionalised family offices across ASEAN markets.
  • Partner closely with research, trading, and corporate access teams to deliver value-added market insights and execution solutions to clients.
  • Provide market feedback and strategic input to enhance the relevance and commercial impact of research offerings.
  • Drive business development initiatives and cultivate corporate relationships to support revenue growth and market expansion.
  • Lead regional roadshows, corporate access activities, and Equity Capital Markets-related initiatives involving institutional clients.
  • Serve as a key market resource on Greater China and Hong Kong markets to support ASEAN-based institutional clients where applicable.
Requirements
  • Degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related discipline.
  • Extensive institutional equities sales experience within brokerage, investment banking, or capital markets environments.
  • Strong understanding of global financial markets, with exposure to ASEAN and China/Hong Kong markets preferred.
  • Established network and proven track record managing institutional buy-side relationships across ASEAN.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities with experience managing regional teams and driving business growth.
  • Strong communication, stakeholder management, and client engagement skills.
  • CMFAS certifications including RES 1A, RES 2A, RES 5, CM-SIP, and CM-EIP will be advantageous.
