Equipment Maintenance Technician / Engineer (Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing)

About the Role

We are seeking a motivated Equipment Maintenance Technician / Engineer to support our pharmaceutical and biomanufacturing client in Tuas. The successful candidate will be involved in equipment maintenance, reliability improvement, commissioning, and operational readiness activities for vaccine manufacturing and bioprocess equipment.

This role offers an excellent opportunity to work with advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing equipment while supporting maintenance, engineering, and reliability initiatives in a GMP-regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and assess biomanufacturing process equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
• Support the development and implementation of maintenance strategies for critical equipment and components.
• Participate in Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM) reviews, including:
• Maintenance frequencies
• Preventive maintenance tasks
• Maintenance procedures
• Required tools and spare parts
• Execute preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance activities in accordance with site procedures.

• Execute maintenance, installation, commissioning, and start-up activities for manufacturing equipment.
• Support Mechanical Completion (MC) activities and ensure equipment readiness for operation.
• Execute and review:
• Site Acceptance Test (SAT) protocols and reports
• Equipment commissioning documentation
• Startup and operational readiness activities
• Support commissioning of both Direct Impact and Non-Direct Impact equipment.

• Assist Engineering teams in preparing and reviewing technical documentation, including:
• Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
• Work Risk Assessments (WRA)
• Risk Assessments
• Maintenance Procedures
• Preventive Maintenance Plans
• Ensure all maintenance activities and documentation comply with GMP, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and support audit readiness activities.

Equipment Support

Provide maintenance and operational support for vaccine manufacturing and bioprocess equipment, including:

• Process Vessels and Bioreactors
• Pumps and Transfer Systems
• Grinders and Mills
• Centrifuges
• Mixing and Agitation Systems
• Utility and Process Support Equipment

• Support the development and delivery of equipment operation and maintenance training.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability, maintainability, and operational efficiency.
• Participate in troubleshooting and root cause investigations to minimize equipment downtime.

Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in:
• Mechanical Engineering
• Mechatronics Engineering
• Chemical Engineering
• Electrical & Electronics Engineering
• Instrumentation & Control Engineering
• Or other related engineering disciplines

• Minimum 2 years of maintenance, engineering, or equipment support experience in:
• Pharmaceutical Manufacturing
• Biopharmaceutical Manufacturing
• Life Sciences Industry
• Food Manufacturing Industry
• GMP-Regulated Production Facilities
• Experience supporting manufacturing process equipment and utility systems is preferred.

• Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance practices.
• Understanding of equipment commissioning and qualification processes.
• Familiarity with Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM) concepts.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, P&IDs, and technical documentation.
• Understanding of GMP, safety, and quality compliance requirements.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and teamwork abilities.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety.
