Business Intelligence (BI) is a foundational component of delivering the insights to our organization to meet this strategic pillar. This role will be critical towards furthering executing on the priority to position Manulife as a digital customer leader and supporting the delivery of key global initiatives such as the Global Ops MIS automation project. This role will also support Operations automation and related BI development, aligned to best practices. The BI Standards & Delivery Lead will be responsible for:

• Establishing standards for BI in Asia that ensure reusability and scalability
• Centralizing the governance of BI that balances oversight with protection of our data
• Lead and oversee the delivery of critical global and regional BI programs within Ops & IT

Duties

• Establish reusable practices for BI deployment across Asia
• Deploy a centralized library for reusable content
• Automation processes for faster deployment
• Standardized testing, validation & acceptance processes for BI for greater user confidence
• “Open source” approach to ensure contributions from across the organization

• Centralize documentation and materials
• Develop reusable training programs to follow BI Standards
• Communicate through various channels to excite and engage staff
• Support maturity of organization in better story telling through data

• Simplistic set of frameworks and processes to measure:
• Consistency of deployment of standards
• Testing & validation scoring
• Reporting and monitoring where standards have not been followed
• Established process to capture and articulate value of BI

• Lead key BI projects across Ops & IT, focused on global and regional projects where reusability is critical
• Leverage established BI standards to ensure faster and more consistent deployments of these strategic projects

• Manage a small team of offshore technical resources
• Coach and mentor direct and indirect reports
• Develop clear team goals, as well as annual skills development plans
• Act as example in Agile practices
• Support staff as they define their individual goals and development plans
• Work closely with analytics and data management teams to determine resource requirements

What we are looking for:

• 10+ years of overall IT experience
• 6+ years working directly in data visualization role
• Degree or equivalent experience in: BI or Analytics, Business or Finance, Computer sciences or IT

• Data visualization tools, with preference for PowerBI
• Proficiency/experience in one or more of the following:
• Big data tools, such as Hive, Azure Data Brick, Azure Data Factory
• Big data platforms, such as Apache (aka. Hadoop / Cloudera / Hortonworks), Azure Data Lake Service
• Database languages, such as SQL, noSQL, postgres
• Establishing a semantic layer

• Exceptional understanding of data visualization
• Demonstrated experience as a coach/mentor/leader
• Ability to interpret and translate terminology between technical and business users
• Change champion – actively identify opportunities for improvement and ability to implement changes successfully
• Confidence in developing engaging content
• Collaborate with geographically and culturally diverse teams across various geographies. Previous experience is an advantage.
