IT System Administrator

Our client is a technology-driven organisation supporting innovative payment solutions. They are seeking a skilled and hands-on System Administrator to manage and support a hybrid infrastructure environment, covering both on-premises systems and cloud platforms.
This role is critical in ensuring the reliability, security, and scalability of systems that support business-critical payment operations.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Management- Administer, monitor, and maintain on-premises servers, storage, and network systems.
- Manage cloud environments (AWS and/or Azure), including provisioning, configuration, optimisation, and performance monitoring.
- Ensure high availability and stability of systems supporting payment operations.
- Implement and maintain security best practices across on-prem and cloud environments.
- Manage access controls, identity management, and audit logs.
- Perform regular patching, vulnerability assessments, and compliance checks (e.g. PCI DSS).
- Monitor system health and performance using appropriate monitoring tools.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and network issues in a timely manner.
- Conduct root-cause analysis and implement long-term preventive solutions.
- Design, implement, and maintain backup and disaster recovery strategies.
- Regularly test recovery procedures to ensure business continuity.
- Develop and implement automation scripts to improve operational efficiency.
- Optimise system performance and cloud cost utilisation.
- Work closely with DevOps, Security, and Application teams on deployments and upgrades.
- Provide technical support and guidance to internal stakeholders.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of experience in system administration, with exposure to both on-premises and cloud environments.
- Strong hands-on experience with Windows and/or Linux servers, virtualisation (VMware, Hyper-V), and networking fundamentals.
- Proficiency in managing AWS or Azure cloud services.
- Familiarity with security standards and compliance frameworks (e.g. PCI DSS).
- Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with automation tools such as PowerShell, Bash, or Ansible is an advantage.
