Job Description

We are seeking a proactive and results-driven Business Development Executive to drive growth in the Outdoor Power Equipment (OPE) business by identifying new opportunities and expanding market presence. This role focuses on building strong relationships with customers in relevant industries such as landscaping, facilities management, and green maintenance.

The role also involves leveraging Makita’s full product portfolio, including power tools and cleaning equipment, to maximize business opportunities.

This position offers an opportunity to grow in a specialized and expanding OPE market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities through market research, networking, and cold calling
  • Actively pursue new customers and projects in OPE-related industries (e.g., landscaping, facilities management, golf courses)
  • Identify end-user opportunities and collaborate with dealers and channel partners to convert them into sales
  • Work closely with dealers and channel partners to drive sales and expand market coverage
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers by understanding their needs and offering suitable solutions
  • Conduct product demonstrations and presentations of OPE products (e.g., chain saws, brush cutters, hedge trimmers)
  • Identify opportunities to promote Makita’s full product portfolio, including power tools and cleaning equipment • Monitor competitor activities, market trends, and pricing to provide insights to the sales team
  • Follow up on sales leads and convert opportunities into sales
  • Plan and execute sales activities to achieve monthly sales targets
  • Support marketing activities such as roadshows and exhibitions when required
  • Report to the Sales Manager
Requirements
  • Diploma or Degree is preferred; relevant experience may be considered in place of formal qualifications
  • 2–4 years of experience in sales or business development, preferably in OPE, tools, or related industries
  • Experience or familiarity with OPE products (e.g., chain saws, brush cutters, hedge trimmers) is preferred
  • Experience in landscaping, facilities management, or green maintenance industries is an advantage
  • Hands-on experience in product demonstrations and explaining product features to customers
  • Experience in repair or maintenance of electrical equipment or machinery, regardless of industry, is an advantage
  • Proactive and able to develop new business opportunities
  • Good communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Possess a valid Class 3 driving license
