The Social Inclusion Project (SIP) at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy specializes in independent, rigorous and impactful social policy research on Singapore and the region. It focuses on overlooked and emerging social challenges, and how public policies can create an open, diverse and inclusive society.Its activities aim to influence policy thinking, shape public conversations and promote opportunities for participation. Established in 2020, the SIP has been involved in studies such as Singapore's first Nationwide Street Count of Homelessness and Minimum Income Standards.
The SIP is hiring a full-time Research Assistant to join a team that conducts innovative policy analysis and engages diverse audiences with a variety of research outputs. The Research Assistant will be expected to support the unit's administrative, research, and outreach and engagement activities.
Position: Research AssistantCommitment: Full-time, 12 months
Starting: July 2025
Responsibilites- Handle administrative duties for research projects. The Research Assistant will be required to support the fieldwork process from participant recruitment through the data management stages, and any other administrative tasks required beyond fieldwork
- Assist in research tasks including literature reviews, qualitative data analysis, writing and publication of findings across mediums (e.g., reports, short papers, academic journals, conferences)
- Support a range of SIP's outreach and engagement activities, including our own events (e.g., public panel discussions, workshops), external invitations, and inter-organisational collaboration
- Bachelors in a social science discipline from a reputable university (e.g., Sociology, Political Science, Public Policy, Economics)
- Excellent command of written and spoken English
- Strong analytical ability
- Intellectual curiosity and openness
- Interest in public policy and its impacts on issues related to social inclusion and inequality
- Understanding of the research and advocacy landscape in Singapore
- Prior experience in research preferred
