Finance Executive (Accounts & Grants)
at Singapore's leading AI training provider

The opportunity
Vertical Institute has trained over 50,000 professionals across B2C and B2B corporate programmes. Government funding schemes such as SkillsFuture play an important role in how many of our learners access our programmes - which means accurate, well-documented claims and disciplined cash collection are core operational priorities, not back-office tasks.
We are looking for a Finance Executive to take ownership of government grant claims and cash collections, reporting directly to the Head of Finance. This is a role with genuine substance - you will manage relationships with funding agencies, handle grant appeals, and be the person who ensures the company gets paid what it is owed, on time.
This role gives you direct exposure to government grant frameworks and funding agency relationships - the kind of regulatory and compliance experience that most finance professionals never get early in their careers. If you want depth in an area that genuinely differentiates your CV, this is it.
What you will own
Government grants and compliance- Prepare and submit claims for government-funded programmes, ensuring every submission is accurate, well-documented, and on time.
- Manage grant appeal submissions and follow-ups with funding agencies - representing the company in these interactions with professionalism and persistence.
- Maintain the documentation and records required for SSG compliance and other regulatory standards, building a system that holds up under audit.
- Support audit preparation related to grants and funded programmes, working alongside the wider finance team.
- Monitor learner account collections and follow up on overdue accounts with the persistence needed to keep cash flow healthy.
- Maintain accurate records of cash receipts and reconcile accounts so the numbers are always trustworthy.
- Liaise with internal teams on billing and settlement queries, resolving issues before they become recurring problems.
- Support month-end closing activities, including journal entries and reconciliations.
- Provide regular updates to the Head of Finance on grant status and cash collection - clear, current, and actionable.
- Support ad hoc financial analyses and modelling related to grant funding, and contribute ideas for process and control improvements.
What we look for
This role rewards persistence, attention to detail, and a genuine interest in how government funding works. Beyond that:
- Diploma or Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2 to 5 years of relevant experience, ideally in grants administration, the training or education sector, or financial operations.
- Hands-on experience with accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, or similar.
- Familiarity with government grants and compliance requirements is a strong advantage - if you have it, we want to hear about it.
- Strong attention to detail and the organisational discipline to track multiple claims and deadlines without anything slipping.
- Comfortable liaising with both internal teams and external funding agencies - professional, clear, and persistent when needed.
Why this role
Specialist exposure- Direct experience with government grant frameworks and funding agency relationships - a niche that is genuinely valuable and rarely available at this level.
- You report to a Head of Finance with a Big Four background, working alongside a CEO who is closely involved in the numbers.
- The claims and collections you manage have a direct, measurable effect on the company's cash position. Your work is not abstract.
- Fast-growing company with real scope for ownership and progression. Centrally located at the Lifelong Learning Institute, Paya Lebar.
