OBJECTIVE OF ROLE
Underwriter is responsible for defining the specific terms of the insurance policy that is agreed upon.
On a day to day basis, an insurance underwriter will examine insurance applications, conduct extra research, collect background information and make risk assessment.
Underwriter is responsible in reviewing insurance applications and screens them based on the criteria of the specific terms of the insurance policy that is agreed upon.
Underwriter will analyze the risks associated with applications and ensure
that it meets the minimum criteria.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Underwrites health insurance products such as Term Life, Critical Illness, Hospitalisation & Surgery, and Outpatient etc.
- Assess applicant insurability by analyzing information in the application, screen applicants on the basis of set criteria, determine the risk of insuring an applicant, and decide special terms of exceptions.
- Prepare documents to obtain additional information, make arrangement for applicant to undergo medical examination etc.
- Summarize medical reports received provided.
- Propose underwriting decision.
- Discuss with Senior Underwriter / Clinical Director for complicated cases.
- Provide advice, when required, to colleagues from other department.
- Work closely with related departments to ensure that insurance applications are processed timely and accurately.
- Miscellaneous duties and administrative support as required for research & data analysis pertaining to underwriting
- Ability to keep up to date with all RHI products.
- Keen leaner and positive working attitude.
- Maintain healthy working relationship with related teams in RHI.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
(A) EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE- Diploma / degree in any discipline
- Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in Insurance or Healthcare.
- Sound understanding of underwriting concept.
- Possess good communication and interpersonal skills
- Positive, patient, organized, reliable personal
- Meticulous and keen in details.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- Ability to multi-task and complete tasks within specified timeline.
- Result driven and self-motivated.
- Able to handle a dynamic environment, flexible and open to changes.
- Keen learner.
