Job Purpose:
The Assistant Bakery Plant Manager supports the Bakery Plant Manager in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the bakery manufacturing facility. The role involves assisting in production planning, maintaining quality and food safety standards, managing inventory, ensuring equipment reliability, and fostering team performance to deliver efficient, safe, and high-quality production in alignment with company goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Production & Operations Support
- Assist in managing daily operations to ensure smooth and timely production and delivery schedules.
- Support the planning, scheduling, and coordination of production activities to meet targets and minimize downtime.
- Monitor production KPIs (output, efficiency, wastage, downtime) and assist in implementing corrective actions when needed.
- Quality & Food Safety
- Ensure compliance with company quality, hygiene, and food safety standards.
- Collaborate with QA/QC teams to implement and enforce food safety protocols (e.g., HACCP, GMP).
- Assist in investigating and resolving product quality issues and customer feedback.
- Staff Supervision & Development
- Supervise line operators, bakers, and packers in daily tasks; ensure adherence to work schedules and SOPs.
- Support staff training, skill development, and performance tracking under the guidance of the Plant Manager.
- Foster a safe, disciplined, and team-oriented work environment.
- Inventory & Material Control
- Monitor inventory levels of raw materials and packaging supplies.
- Coordinate with procurement and warehouse teams to ensure timely availability of production materials.
- Help track material usage and control wastage.
- Equipment Maintenance & Workplace Safety
- Work with the maintenance team to ensure production equipment is maintained and functioning properly.
- Enforce workplace health and safety policies and participate in regular safety audits and briefings.
- Report and follow up on safety issues or equipment breakdowns promptly.
- Process Improvement & Support
- Identify opportunities for process optimization to improve production flow, reduce waste, and enhance efficiency.
- Support implementation of new systems, tools, or technologies in the plant.
- Stay updated on bakery manufacturing trends and assist in applying best practices.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Food Technology, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in food manufacturing; bakery or FMCG experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of food safety and quality standards (e.g., HACCP, GMP, ISO).
- Hands-on experience in supervising production operations and coordinating cross-functional teams.
- Good communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; knowledge of ERP systems is an advantage.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with a proactive and responsible mindset.
