Aspiring Container Broker (Chartering cum Operations)(Shipping) - Toa Payoh
Our client is a well known and well trusted shipping brand. Currently, they are seeking a suitably qualified candidate to join them as "Container Broker (Chartering cum Operations)(Shipping MNC).
Responsibilities :
- Play a dual role in supporting the chartering and operational teams.
- Assist Senior Brokers in managing commercial discussions with charterers and shipowners, while also learning the operational process from fixture to redelivery.
- Assist Senior Brokers in understanding charterers requirements and communicate with shipowners to explore suitable vessel options, participate in preliminary negotiations, and gain exposure to chartering practices.
- Liaise with shipowners, charterers, and brokers to facilitate fixture negotiations and ensure smooth exchange of contractual and operational details.
- Assist in open tonnage collection for shipbrokers.
- Coordinate with commercial hubs, operations department, fleet management team and finance department to verify expense claims, off-hire causes, cargo-related issues, and to follow up on offhire incidents, laytime disputes, cargo damage claims, and war risk premium arrangements.
- Share and analyse fixture reports to support the chartering discussion between shipbrokers and charterers/owners.
- Assist hire invoice from owners and hire statement from charterers to be forwarded to correct counter parties timely.
- Ensure all vessel-related TCDs, Plans, and Certificates are filed in the system.
- Support and report to senior brokers on disputes, delays, and other operational issues that may affect delivery or redelivery of the vessel.
- Any other adhoc duties as assigned by your manager.
Requirements:
- Diploma or Degree in Maritime Studies, Shipping, Logistics, or related discipline.
- At least 1 to 2 years of relevant working experience in shipping operations or chartering is preferred.
- A keen interest in commercial shipping and willingness to learn both brokering and operational aspects of the business.
- Open to Shipbroker with container or dry bulk background.
- Proactive and well-organized.
- Able to multi-task under pressure in a fast-paced work environment.
- Proficiency in the English language, both verbal and written.
