KidSTART Practitioner (Community Services & Programmes)

The KidSTART programme provides upstream support to children from low-income families in the areas of early childhood development, health, and social support.
As a KidSTART Practitioner, you will actively engage families and work closely with social/ community partners and government agencies. Through home visitations, you will support parents in their parenting through delivery of a range of child development strategies, assess, and monitor their children’s health and development.
As a KidSTART Practitioner, you will be expected to:
- Provide support and guidance to enhance parents' capacity in nurturing child development through regular and consistent home visits.
- Conduct screening and ongoing assessments on child development, maternal and family wellbeing, and associated needs and risks to inform the appropriate intensity and tailoring of interventions.
- Build and maintain positive partnerships with parents and caregivers to effectively support the transfer of child development knowledge and skills.
- Motivate and strengthen parents’ capacity to apply and integrate child development knowledge and skills by creating and facilitating learning opportunities within the context of parent child relationships.
- Provide information and guidance on the areas of early childhood development and health, with support from a multi-disciplinary team comprising paediatricians, nurses, allied health professionals and early childhood consultants.
- Collaborate and partner community and social service agencies (eg. FSCs, SSOs) to deliver integrated and coordinated care for families.
- Participate actively and contribute to discussions in team meetings, supervision sessions, training, and multidisciplinary case reviews.
- Be involved in the regular reviews of existing programmes and processes with the team.
- Participate in the evaluation and fidelity monitoring of service delivery through consistency in documentation, administrative work and meeting of service standard requirements.

Requirements:
- Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences, Early Childhood or equivalent.
- 2-3 years of experience in the social service sector working with young children and families, or in early childhood development with an understanding of needs of low-income families are preferred.
- Fresh graduates are welcome.
- Possess a keen interest in parenting and child development work.
- Demonstrates empathy and understanding of the needs and challenges faced by parents and caregivers.
- An excellent team player with good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organisational skills, with an ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively.
- Works effectively and collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and community partners.
- Demonstrates self-awareness, adaptability, and actively pursues continuous learning and professional growth.
- Willing and able to work on some weekday evenings and weekends.
