Pastoral Care Officer | Xy

Working Hours: Mon - Fri, 7:15 AM - 2:45 PM

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide first-line emotional and behavioural support to students.
• Offer one-on-one pastoral care for students facing emotional or personal challenges.
• Apply active listening, restorative practices, and de-escalation techniques effectively.
• Build positive relationships and promote emotional resilience and well-being.

• Identify and support students requiring additional care or intervention.
• Conduct regular check-ins and monitor student well-being and behaviour.
• Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of cases and interventions.
• Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to support student welfare.

• Respond promptly to student incidents, conflicts, or emotional situations.
• Provide immediate support while ensuring safety and well-being.
• Follow safeguarding procedures and appropriate escalation protocols.

• Support social-emotional learning (SEL) and peer support initiatives.
• Encourage positive behaviour, peer connectedness, and early intervention efforts.
• Communicate professionally with parents, guardians, and external support agencies when required.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum Diploma in Counselling, Psychology, Social Work, Education, or related disciplines.
• Strong empathy, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
• Good communication and active listening abilities.
• Ability to remain calm, patient, and composed in challenging situations.
• Knowledge of conflict resolution and behaviour management techniques.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professional judgement.
• Prior experience working with children in primary schools, student care, or enrichment settings preferred.
• Experience in student well-being, pastoral care, or behavioural support programmes.
• Exposure to counselling, mentoring, or student guidance is advantageous.
