Programme Facilitator (2 year Contract)
Primary Objectives of Position
Support the delivery of inclusive, participation-focused programmes for children and youths with disabilities across school, community, and group-based settings through movement engagement, adaptive activities, and community integration initiatives under the guidance of Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists.
The role focuses on enabling clients to participate meaningfully and safely in physical, recreational, school, and community activities while supporting group facilitation, inclusive participation, programme implementation, and engagement within natural environments.
The position complements the work of Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists by supporting participation and community integration outcomes and does not include independent clinical assessment, therapy intervention, diagnosis, or prescription of individualised rehabilitation programmes.
Key Responsibilities- Group-Based Participation & Activity Support
- Support Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists in conducting:
- Group movement sessions
ii. Adaptive physical activities
iii. Participation-focused programmes
iv. Community integration activities- Functional recreational activities
- Facilitate client participation during group activities using adaptive and inclusive approaches.
- Support clients in following routines, transitions, instructions, and activity engagement.
- Encourage participation, confidence-building, social interaction, and positive peer engagement.
- PE & School Participation Support
- Support participation of clients during Physical Education (PE) lessons in mainstream schools under therapist guidance.
- Assist in adapting activities, equipment setup, and participation strategies to promote inclusion.
- Support safety monitoring and participation engagement during school-based activities.
- ·Work collaboratively with therapists, school personnel, and programme staff during PE coaching sessions.
- Hydrotherapy & Movement Programme Support
- Support therapists during hydrotherapy sessions and movement-based activities.
- Prepare equipment and activity stations before and after sessions.
- Ensure safety procedures and infection control practices are adhered to during activities.
- Monitor client participation and report observations to supervising therapists.
- Workshops, Events & Community Inclusion Activities
- Support planning and execution of:
- Inclusive sports activities
ii. Community integration events
iii. School awareness programmes
iv. Workshops- Recreational outings
- Assist with logistics coordination, setup, facilitation, and participant engagement.
- Promote inclusive participation and positive experiences for clients and community partners.
- Resource & Programme Preparation
- Prepare therapy and activity resources under therapist guidance.
- Assist with equipment management, stock checks, setup, and maintenance of programme materials.
- Support documentation related to attendance, activity records, and programme logistics.
- Assist in maintaining safe and organised activity environments.
- Team & Professional Support
- Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Participate in team discussions, supervision, training, and service development initiatives.
- Maintain professional boundaries and adhere to organisational policies and confidentiality requirements.
- Escalate concerns relating to client safety, behaviour, participation, or well-being promptly to supervising therapists
- Diploma in Sport & Exercise Science or related discipline from or equivalent.
- Experience in sports coaching, inclusive recreation, camps, youth engagement, or community programmes would be an advantage.
