Assistant Underwriter, Hull and Liability, Marine
Primary Responsibilities • Assist with the underwriting of new business and renewals
Primary Details Time Type:- Full time Worker Type: Employee Assist with the underwriting of new business and renewals in accordance with the organization's policy and underwriting guidelines of the various products (i.e. Marine, Property and Engineering products, Financial Lines and Liability, Accident and Health, Motor, Workers Compensation, SME and Home etc.) and maintain product, system and process knowledge.
- Assist with the underwriting of new business and renewals in accordance with the organization's policy and underwriting guidelines of the Marine line.
- Maintain product, system and process knowledge
- Attend relevant product and skill courses and passing on relevant points to other staff
- Provide professional level of services to external customers and internal stakeholders
- Ensure timely communication with relevant stakeholders in respect to processing queries
- Develop good working relationships with all internal customers and stakeholders
- Processing insurance quotations, new business, endorsement and renewals
- Where appropriate, identify and escalate queries / risks to the relevant Senior Underwriter / Underwriter
- Complete other administrative duties as required
- Maintain data in relevant computer systems and other databases Preferred Competencies/Skills
- Strong analytical, communication & interpersonal skills
- Sound PC skills and fast learner in computer programs Preferred Education Specifics
- Tertiary education Preferred Experience
- Minimum 3+ years of underwriting experience in insurance business together with relevant policy documentation handling experience Preferred Knowledge
- Basic knowledge of the insurance industry
