Key Responsibilities:

  • Detect, analyze, influence and enable effective implementation of sustainability regulations within in our APJ (Asia Pacific and Japan) regions.
  • You will maintain a roadmap and dashboard of compliance requirements in these countries.
  • You will help track, analyse and enable compliance with legislative requirements on WEEE, batteries, packaging, eco design, waste shipment, materials, ESG, supply chain responsibility, climate, repair, and the circular economy.
  • You will develop policy analysis and compliance instructions that will be used to keep internal teams aware of the new legislation and convey the key requirements to the relevant implementation teams.
  • You will also attend meetings with industry associations, key stakeholders, and policy makers to enable detailed understanding of regulations and provide technical advocacy support where agreed.
  • You may also act as a regional lead for a specific regulatory topic working with the global leads on these topics to build your expertise, creating a consolidated regulations on these topics in the APJ region, and providing expert support to others within the APJ region to enable technical advocacy support on selected regulations.
  • You will work with our colleagues in other regions to provide a global overview of regulations that could impact the company.
  • You may also support a specialist sustainability programme area and compliance transformation projects.
Requirements & essential skills
  • Passion for sustainability and drive to make a positive difference.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree with a significant sustainability or environmental policy focus (eg Geography, Environmental Policy, Environmental Management, Environmental and Business, Environmental Law or equivalent).
  • Enthusiasm, ability and willingness to learn and adapt to new challenges.
  • Knowledge and experience of understanding sustainability policy requirements.
  • Experience in a sustainability, policy, or compliance role.
  • Ability to understand complex requirements and develop solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage fluid situations, then prioritize and act with calm and efficiency, working at a fast pace in a flexible manner.
  • Strong quality orientation. Rigor and attention to details.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills to keep track of tasks and ensure completion on time.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills including being comfortable with speaking to internal stakeholders and external partners.
  • Advocacy/influencing skills – rallying support from internal and external stakeholders to deliver on our objectives.
  • An analytical approach and innovative mind to develop new ideas, proposals, and solutions.
  • Strong team-working skills.
  • Self-starter. Ability to work with minimal direct day-to-day supervision.
  • Preferably someone with experience in WEEE, batteries, packaging, eco design, waste shipment, materials, ESG, supply chain responsibility, climate, repair and the circular economy.
  • Interest or experience of the policy making process or working within a policy making environment.
  • Experience of delivering a compliance project.
  • Technical skills (eg data analysis, Power BI, AI skills)
