Job Summary:
As the Bunker Operations / Operations Officer, you will coordinate the end-to-end execution of daily bunker delivery schedules, vessel movements, and marine fuel transfers. Acting as a central liaison between vessel masters, barge operators, port authorities, surveyors, and suppliers, this role ensures all operational activities achieve maximum efficiency while maintaining strict regulatory compliance.The ideal candidate will combine strong logistical coordination skills with deep familiarity with maritime documentation—including Bunker Delivery Notes (BDN) and Statements of Facts (SOF)—to independently resolve post-fixture operational challenges in a fast-paced shipping environment.
Job Description:
Operational Coordination & Scheduling- Vessel Coordination: Plan and execute daily vessel bunkering schedules and fuel supply arrangements, minimizing port turnaround times and tracking vessel movements.
- Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary operational link between vessel masters, marine barge operators, independent surveyors, fuel suppliers, and maritime port authorities to streamline delivery workflows.
- Activity Monitoring: Supervise bunker loading, custody transfers, and discharging activities to optimize flow rates and maintain strict inventory accuracy.
- Document Verification: Prepare, audit, and finalize vital shipping and cargo manifests, including Bunker Delivery Notes (BDN), delivery reports, custom port declarations, and Statements of Facts (SOF).
- Data Integrity: Maintain exact, audit-ready logs of fuel quantities transferred, onboard inventory movements, and physical fuel density parameters.
- Management Reporting: Draft comprehensive operational summaries, performance reports, and data-backed updates for senior management review.
- Compliance Spot Checks: Conduct structured operational spot checks to confirm that bunkering processes strictly adhere to international maritime safety codes and environmental standards.
- Discrepancy Resolution: Resolve immediate day-to-day post-fixture operational issues, managing cross-departmental communication regarding fuel quality claims, quantity shortfalls, or port delays.
- Emergency Response: Support real-time incident handling, emergency communication protocols, and risk mitigation strategies in the event of port disruptions.
Requirements:
- Academic Background: Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics & Supply Chain Management, Marine Engineering, or an equivalent maritime-focused discipline.
- Professional Tenure: Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience focused on bunker operations, shipping agency management, tanker operations, or cargo coordination.
- Domain Preference: Prior experience operating directly as a Officer or holding verified technical exposure in maritime bunkering operations is highly preferred.
- Port Frameworks: Functional knowledge of localized port operational standards, maritime clearance processes, and standard international bunkering procedures.
- Administrative Skills: High proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Word) for tracking data logs and building performance spreadsheets; exceptional organization skills tailored for strict digital document retention.
