Head of Operations - Pasir Ris
Job Summary:
The Head of Operations in Obayashi Construction-Tech Lab Singapore oversees the development of construction-related technologies and leads on-site validation of newly implemented methods.
Essential Job Functions:
The Head of Operations is responsible, but not limited to, the following:
- Driving innovation through the advancement of construction-related technologies, including oversight of research and development activities
- Execute the strategy working with internal and external resources, including:
(A) Joint research and development initiatives with universities in Singapore, fostering academic collaboration and technological innovation
(B) Evaluating the implementation potential of innovative third-party technologies through on-site testing and application trials
(C) Positioned the laboratory as a central hub for technological deployment, facilitating cross-functional collaboration and accelerating field implementation of innovations
(D) Identification and exploration of research and development needs to support technological innovation and strategic growth- Led strategic initiatives for organizational design and workforce planning, encompassing recruitment, role definition, and alignment of personnel with operational goals
- Establishing strategic partnerships with key institutions in Singapore to support technology development and implementation initiatives
- Management and supervision of laboratory personnel, fostering a collaborative research environment and ensuring effective team performance
- Regular reporting of operational status and project progress to upper management to ensure transparency and alignment with organizational goals
Minimum Qualifications / Job Experience:
- Ph.D. or Master’s degree in Architectural Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated experience in research and development of construction technologies or hands-on experience in related fields.
- Proven ability to lead R&D initiatives, including strategic planning, team leadership, resource coordination, and implementation of innovative solutions.
- Strong understanding of construction practices, methodologies, and on-site operations.
- Experience in field deployment of developed technologies is highly desirable.
- Basic programming knowledge is an advantage.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
- Strong time management and planning capabilities.
- Ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively across teams.
- 20 years of B2B industry experience is a significant advantage.
- Willingness to travel overseas for business purposes.
