Food Technologist, Research & Development (Factory based)

Job Summary:

The Food Technologist (R&D) is responsible for developing and improving food products, supporting factory operations, and ensuring products can be efficiently scaled from concept to full production. This role works closely with production, QA/QC, and procurement teams to deliver consistent, safe, and commercially viable products.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in generating new product ideas and recipes
• Develop new food products from concept to factory production
• Reformulate existing products to improve quality, cost efficiency, and nutritional profile
• Ensure all product creations comply with customer, government, and legal regulatory requirements within the country of sale
• Ensure timely documentation of formulas, product and packaging specifications, sensory evaluation, nutritional information, and other related documentation
• Extend the application of products developed through recipe research and sensory evaluation
• Liaise with QA/QC on new product SOPs and product guidelines for mass production
• Conduct shelf-life testing and product stability assessments
• Conduct troubleshooting when product quality issues arise during production
• Identify, verify, and advise production on ingredient specifications from suppliers
• Collaborate with procurement to source appropriate ingredients for product development
• Monitor the use of additives in both recipes and large-scale production
• Perform other ad hoc duties as assigned

Requirements:

• Diploma or Degree in Food Science, Biochemistry, Nutrition, Food Engineering, or Food Technology
• Knowledge of food safety and quality compliance (e.g., HACCP)
• Experience in scaling products from concept to mass production
• Strong problem-solving skills in production environments
• Good communication and cross-functional coordination skills
• Familiarity with local regulatory requirements
