About the Opportunity:
As the SVP, Sustainability Lead, APAC, you will lead Weber Shandwick’s regional sustainability offering, while also playing a key role in advancing Weber Advisory’s focus on sustainability and ESG-related counsel. This intersectional position will enable you to address complex client needs ranging from corporate positioning and reputational resilience to policy engagement and stakeholder mapping.
You will serve as both an internal and external sustainability leader—advising clients on how to embed ESG priorities within their C-Suite agendas and communications strategies. Leveraging Weber Advisory’s AI-powered scenario planning tools, data-driven insights, and global expertise, you will ensure that sustainability efforts align with business goals and regulatory requirements while driving meaningful social and environmental progress.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership & Advisory Integration
- Regional Sustainability Leadership: Define and implement the sustainability strategy for Weber Shandwick across APAC, aligning with global priorities while addressing local market trends and regulations.
- Weber Advisory Partnership: Act as the sustainability and ESG specialist within Weber Advisory, providing counsel to corporate boards and senior executives on navigating sustainability-related challenges, risks, and opportunities.
- C-Suite Advisory: Provide high-level strategic counsel to C-Suite executives on embedding sustainability into their corporate strategy and governance structures, leveraging Weber Advisory’s scenario planning tools to mitigate risks and anticipate future challenges.
- Cross-Regional Collaboration: Work seamlessly with Weber Advisory’s global and regional teams to deliver integrated sustainability solutions and ensure alignment across markets.
- Client Partnership & Growth
- Client Sustainability Strategies: Develop bespoke sustainability and ESG strategies for APAC clients across key sectors such as technology, healthcare, financial services, consumer goods, energy, and more.
- Broader Business Engagement: Help clients navigate sustainability risks and opportunities across the business landscape, including corporate reputation, regulatory compliance, and stakeholder engagement.
- Revenue Growth: Support Weber Advisory’s objectives by driving the growth of sustainability-related client projects and contributing to the overall business development pipeline.
- Innovation & Implementation
- Data & AI-Driven Insights: Use Weber Advisory’s proprietary platforms and tools, such as AI-powered data monitoring and scenario planning, to deliver actionable and effective sustainability strategies.
- Creative Campaigns: Lead multi-stakeholder sustainability campaigns that integrate earned-first creativity with cultural relevance, data insights, and executive leadership.
- Policy & Public Affairs: Drive engagement strategies that position clients as credible leaders in sustainability, particularly in the context of APAC’s regulatory and cultural complexities.
- Talent & Practice Development
- Practice Building: Expand Weber Advisory and Weber Shandwick’s sustainability expertise, positioning APAC as a hub for global innovation in sustainability and ESG communications.
- Team Leadership: Recruit, develop, and mentor regional talent in sustainability, with a focus on building diverse, cross-functional teams that deliver world-class client outcomes.
- Training and Upskilling: Deliver educational workshops to internal teams and clients on the latest sustainability trends, frameworks, and communication best practices.
Qualifications & Experience:
Education & Experience- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Public Policy, Communications, or a related field. An advanced degree (e.g., MBA, Master’s in Environmental Management, or Public Affairs) is strongly preferred.
- At least 15 years of experience in sustainability-related roles, with expertise in consulting, strategic communications, or corporate ESG leadership. Prior experience advising C-Suite executives is a must.
- Demonstrated success in developing and implementing ESG strategies or campaigns, particularly within APAC markets.
- Sustainability Expertise: Deep understanding of ESG frameworks (e.g., GRI, UN SDGs, SASB, TCFD) and emerging regulatory requirements in APAC.
- Executive-Level Communication: Exceptional ability to engage with senior leaders, deliver clear strategic counsel, and build credibility with stakeholders across the business ecosystem.
- Cross-Functional Thinker: Proven ability to integrate sustainability strategies with broader business goals, including brand reputation, policy advocacy, and stakeholder engagement.
- Analytical & Data-Driven: Comfort using data to inform strategic decisions, leveraging tools like AI, analytics, and insights platforms.
- Creative Leadership: Ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver innovative sustainability solutions that combine creativity with cultural relevance.
