about the job

The Partnership Manager, MGA is responsible for ensuring all Managing General Agents (MGAs) related business is conducted with operational prudence, efficiency, and profitability. This role involves the strategic oversight of third-party partnerships, ensuring all underwriting activities and binders align with group requirements and regulatory standards.

  • Strategic Partnership: Evaluating business cases and conducting due diligence on MGAs and underwriters to facilitate product launches and treaty arrangements.
  • Compliance Oversight: Managing regulatory applications to MAS and GIA while ensuring adherence to legal frameworks, group policies, and binder guidelines.
  • Underwriting Governance: Coordinating the referral of accounts to Head Office or Treaty partners and ensuring technical underwriting standards are maintained through regular audits.
  • Portfolio Management: Partnering with Actuarial and Finance teams to monitor loss ratios and assess the impact of capital requirements on the MGA portfolio.
  • Process Optimization: Collaborating with internal stakeholders to define system requirements and developing training for staff on new products and insurance systems.

skills and experience required

Candidates must meet the following objective criteria for this position.
  • Experience: 5 years of professional experience in the reinsurance or general insurance sector.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree, Diploma, or professional insurance qualifications.
  • Technical Proficiency: Knowledge of underwriting processes, reinsurance structures, and the review of policy wordings.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Understanding of MAS regulations, GIA requirements, and Singapore insurance market standards.
  • Analytical Skills: Experience in business analysis and the monitoring of portfolio performance results.
