ACS Academy, established in partnership with Methodist Welfare Services, is Singapore’s fifth special education (SPED) school dedicated to supporting students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and who have no intellectual impairment and can access the National Curriculum (NC), also known as the ASD-NC student profile.

As the first Methodist SPED school in Singapore, ACS Academy will provide a nurturing and inclusive learning environment grounded in Christian values, upholding the traditions of the ACS family while delivering a holistic education that fosters academic excellence, character development, and essential life skills for future success, instilling in students a heart for service and a commitment to contributing meaningfully to the community and beyond.

The Social Worker works via an inter-disciplinary model with fellow allied professionals, teaching staff and parents or caregivers, and is responsible in providing support services and intervention to benefit students and their families, when difficulties exist and they interfere with the students obtaining maximum educational benefits.
He will maintain professional relationships with students and their families, acting as a guide, advocate and or supporter so that they are able to help themselves. He will participate in case consultations and provide relevant support services to benefit students and their families.

The standard of professional practice will be ethical and delivered with due consideration to the relevant legislation and procedures.

Job Description
  • Develop and implement school’s financial assistance scheme policies for needy students
  • Conduct family and social assessment of students’ needs when necessary, including home visits
  • Provide socio-emotional interventions to students to support and maximize learning and adjustment
  • Provide crisis intervention support in line with the school policies, including recommendations for financial assistance and supporting child protection cases
  • Conduct family interviews of new students and co-ordinate with AP staff to support placement and transition for new admission
  • Work in collaboration with teaching/non-teaching staff and caregivers for the effective enhancement of services by maintaining and updating of students’ case records with relevant documentation reports
  • Work with external agencies e.g. family service centres for the effective enhancement of services
  • Coordinate and liaise with the school’s family/parent support group
  • Conduct relevant in-house training for school staff, parents and caregivers
  • Develop and review department and related policies in conjunction with the HOD

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or Graduate Diploma in Social Work
  • Minimum 3 years of work experience in an educational setting
  • Registered Social Worker (RSW) with the Singapore Association of Social Workers is preferred
  • Good communication & interpersonal skills
  • Reliable, responsible and show high level of initiative
