Platform Operations Engineer (Infrastructure / Cloud / Automation)
We are partnering with a leading public sector technology environment to hire a Platform Operations Engineer to support and modernise critical infrastructure platforms powering large-scale enterprise systems.
This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring infrastructure engineer to build deep expertise across enterprise platforms, virtualisation, automation, hybrid cloud, and modern infrastructure operations while working on systems that support essential digital services.
You will play a key role in ensuring platform reliability, operational stability, and infrastructure resilience, while contributing to ongoing modernisation and cloud transformation initiatives.

What You’ll Be Working On:
Platform Operations & Infrastructure Support- Support and maintain enterprise infrastructure platforms supporting mission-critical systems
- Monitor platform health, availability, and performance to ensure operational stability
- Troubleshoot infrastructure incidents and support issue resolution across compute, storage, and network environments
- Perform routine maintenance, patching, upgrades, and system optimisation activities
- Work closely with vendors and internal stakeholders to ensure smooth platform operations
- Support infrastructure refresh, migration, and platform modernisation initiatives
- Contribute to workload migration efforts across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments
- Assist in improving platform resilience, scalability, and operational efficiency
- Support automation initiatives to streamline operational processes
- Contribute to scripting and infrastructure automation tasks
- Assist with monitoring, observability, and performance optimisation improvements
- Maintain clear operational documentation, runbooks, and technical procedures
- Support the agency’s transition toward hybrid cloud platforms
- Assist with infrastructure integration across on-premises and cloud environments
- Gain exposure to cloud-native infrastructure concepts and operational best practices
What We’re Looking For:
We’re looking for junior engineers with a strong technical foundation, curiosity, and a desire to grow in modern infrastructure engineering and the following competencies:
Core Technical Skills:
- Foundational knowledge of virtualisation platforms such as VMware vSphere, Microsoft Hyper-V, or Nutanix
- Basic understanding of enterprise storage concepts (SAN / NAS / backup systems)
- Familiarity with Linux and/or Windows Server administration
- Understanding of core networking concepts TCP/IP, DNS / DHCP, routing & switching, firewalls, load balancing and network segmentation
- Exposure to monitoring and observability tools
- Understanding of high availability and disaster recovery concepts
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services or Microsoft Azure
Nice to Have:
- Exposure to automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, or Chef
- Basic scripting skills in Python, Bash, or PowerShell
- Familiarity with observability platforms such as Prometheus, Grafana or Splunk
- Exposure to containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code concepts

- Certifications such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP), Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE), ITIL v4 Foundation or Associate-level cloud certifications across AWS / Azure will be highly regarded
