Choa Chu Kang - Singaporean Only! Technical Support Chemist (Exp in Waste Segregation/Tuas)

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and support all functions related to incoming waste segregation, including both bulk and loose waste, as well as weighbridge operations.
• Continuously monitor and enhance departmental performance by reviewing existing workflows and procedures, proposing improvements, and executing enhancement plans.
• Oversee and ensure the smooth and effective operation of waste unloading, segregation, and distribution processes.
• Conduct regular inspections of plant processes, ensuring adherence to 5S and TPM practices, workplace safety, discipline, and the operational condition of machinery and equipment.
• Ensure incoming waste streams are properly assessed for appropriate treatment methods and that safe work procedures are in place and suitable for operations staff.
• Act as the primary coordinator for addressing discrepancies in incoming waste, facilitating interdepartmental communication, and updating related SOPs accordingly.
• Evaluate and develop new treatment methods and handling procedures for novel or unidentified waste types. Review operational costs and provide regular updates to management.
• Implement and supervise Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) practices within the department.
• Coordinate with the resale team to manage and minimize storage of recovered products.
• Prepare and analyze daily and monthly operational reports (e.g., cost, productivity, quality, non-conformance), follow up on corrective actions, and ensure staff compliance and improvement.
• Conduct regular briefings and training sessions for department staff on the safe handling of highly flammable solvents, understanding of MSDS, use of PPE, and risk assessment protocols.
• Lead emergency response activities involving operations and maintenance staff in the event of spills or fire. Coordinate with the EHS department to ensure all staff are well-trained in emergency procedures and equipment use. Organize regular emergency drills and scenario-based exercises.
• Ensure all staff are adequately trained through the On-the-Job Training (OJT) program and are capable of adhering to SOPs and maintaining a safe work environment.
• Carry out any additional tasks as assigned by management.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Chemistry.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience.
• No color blindness.
