The Automation Technician is responsible for assembling, wiring, and integrating automation equipment and systems based on instructions. This role supports the build, testing, and commissioning of automation solutions such as machines, fixtures, robotic work cells or assembly cells before delivery to customers and commissioning or post-delivery services at customer site.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assemble mechanical equipment based upon supplied documentation.
  • For electrical technician, ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
  • Read and follow technical procedures, instructions, documents and drawings.
  • Apply manufacturing methods, techniques, and procedures as documentation dictates.
  • Support machine testing, dry runs and basic functional checks before commissioning.
  • Perform diagnosis and troubleshoot problems with electro-mechanical equipment followed by actions and/or recommendation on solutions for problems.
  • Conduct analysis of test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives followed by modification or adjustment of equipment to meet specifications.
  • Review anddiscuss on project procedures or timelines,instructions, and specifications to identify, modify and plan approaches forfabrication, assembly and testing.
  • Assist during machine setup, FAT (Factory Acceptance Test), and customer buy-off.
  • Participate in on-site installation or commissioning support when required.
  • Provide input on potential changes in design, method of manufacture and assembly procedures and techniques to engineering and manufacturing management.
  • Use precision measuring tools or equipment and operate precision test equipment.
  • Operate various hand tools as well as drill press, grinders or other machines to modify parts tested or to fabricate experimental parts for testing.
  • Observe all environmental, health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures and be compliant with ISO quality standards.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Diploma or Certificate in Automation or Mechanical or Electrical-Electronics that are related in technical or engineering field or equivalent.
  • At least 3years of experience as a technician or equivalent in an engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Familiar with machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair and maintenance.
  • Ability to read blue prints, schematic diagrams and technical orders to determine methods and sequences of assembly.
  • Ability to proactively communicate and provide timely and accurate feedback on technical matters that may impact the performance and specifications of the machines to appropriate functional groups.
