Job Summary

The Technical Superintendent ensures technical performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance of assigned vessels by overseeing maintenance, repairs, and dry-docking projects while managing budgets and coordinating with shipyards and contractors.

Responsibilities

Oversee maintenance and repair activities to ensure vessel machinery operates efficiently and reliably
Monitor vessel technical performance and implement strategies to optimize machinery efficiency and reduce downtime.
Provide technical guidance and support to shipboard and shore personnel to maintain compliance with class, flag state, and international regulations (SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW).
Plan, manage, and supervise dry-docking projects, coordinating with shipyards and contractors to meet timelines and quality standards.
Control and manage technical budgets to ensure cost-effective vessel operations and maintenance.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives by adopting modern technologies and best practices across the fleet.
Manage multiple vessels, vendors, and stakeholders effectively to ensure smooth technical operations.
Utilize Planned Maintenance Systems (PMS), Safety Management Systems (SMS), and marine procurement systems to support maintenance and compliance activities.
Communicate technical information clearly and prepare reports to support decision-making and negotiation processes.

Required competencies and certifications

Engineer (Class 5) certification or equivalent seagoing experience
Minimum 2-3 years’ experience as a Technical Superintendent or similar shore-based role in the bunker industry in Singapore

Preferred competencies and qualifications

Experience sailing on Bunker Tankers in Singapore
