Director / Assistant Director, Operations

Role Purpose

Accountable for end-to-end mission delivery, service quality, and operational integrity across MTFA’s charitable subsidiaries and mission-anchored social enterprises, ensuring that growth, innovation, and sustainability never compromise care standards, trust, or compliance.

Enterprise Scope

This role has group-wide accountability for charitable subsidiaries, mission-anchored social enterprises (operationally), service quality, safeguarding, compliance-in-practice, and operational readiness for scale (new centres, new services).

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide enterprise-wide leadership over all charitable services, ensuring consistent service quality, safeguarding, and beneficiary outcomes across entities.
  • Establish and enforce group-wide operating principles that protect mission integrity and service excellence at scale.
  • Ensure regulatory, licensing, and compliance requirements are fully embedded in day-to-day operations, not merely documented.
  • Serve as the primary escalation authority for service failures, safeguarding incidents, and operational or reputational risks.
  • Hold operational accountability for mission-anchored social enterprises, ensuring commercial sustainability does not compromise care standards, ethics, or brand trust.
  • Lead operational readiness for growth, including new centres, new service lines, and increased beneficiary volumes, with appropriate staffing, workflows, and controls.
  • Develop and steward a strong pipeline of mission-driven operational leaders.
  • Partner with enterprise leaders across Revenue, Community, and Corporate Services, acting as the final arbiter of operational feasibility in strategic decisions.
Success Measures (Indicative)
  • Consistently high service quality and safeguarding outcomes across all charitable services and mission-anchored social enterprises.
  • Clean regulatory, licensing, and compliance outcomes, with no major operational or reputational breaches.
  • Smooth and well-controlled onboarding of new centres or service lines, with operational readiness achieved before scale-up.
  • Strong operational leadership depth
  • Sustained confidence from Council and senior leadership in the organisation’s ability to deliver its mission safely and at scale.
