JOB SUMMARY

An expansive role in Specialised Finance Risk, managing credit risk, within the second line of defence. A business aligned function partnering the Corporate & Investment Bank - Global Markets - Credit Trading business in the public and private securitisation market; namely ABS, CLO, MBS and middle-market lender finance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Awareness and understanding of the business, economic and market environment in which the Group operates.
  • Identify, measure, and monitor material risk affecting Specialised Finance portfolio in the context of the external market environment.
  • Maintain and develop the risk capabilities, and skills to meet ongoing business needs and plans.
  • New transaction deal screening and due diligence, with the ability to unpack complex situations or niche sectors to find out-of-box solutions, and value creation for clients.
  • Influence business and / or support senior credit risk officers for best-in-class underwriting with a deep dive into market analysis and rating agency methodologies.
  • Conduct new transaction request due diligence with expert judgement on asset portfolio risk, structural mitigants, originator and servicer analysis, supporting cashflow stress testing, operational risk assessments and liquidity / asset realisation assessment.
  • Review Business Credit Applications, ensuring these are in line with internal Credit Underwriting Principles, and a timely submission for credit approval.
  • Independently critique and recommend / approve credit and rating proposals, in line with defined risk parameters, negotiated credit terms and documentation review.
  • Dynamically manage a portfolio of asset classes and credit risk counterparties (often bespoke) in the global portfolio, understand the client by geography, industry, and structural differences.
Conduct periodic portfolio and transaction stress testing based off dominant rating agency methodologies.
  • Pro-actively manage transactions ahead of credit deterioration (Early Alert Review) with detection through portfolio reviews, adhering to industry strategies, market monitoring, and lessons learned.

Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Seasoned credit professional with 10 + years of experience in the structured credit markets of asset-backed financing in securitisation.
  • Experience in warehouse, asset-based finance and traded asset backed securities, across geographies and asset type (ABS, CLO, RMBS).
  • Strong understanding of credit risk, financial analysis, structuring, stress testing and jurisdiction risk, and their application in lending decisions for single counterparty credit risk appetite.
  • Able to manage credit risk appetite with early-stage deal screening, detailed due diligence, and timely execution of transactions with credit memo analysis and independently written Risk recommendations.
  • Experience gained from an investment bank or a structured finance group of a major international organisation and a relevant degree from a top-tier university including associated professional qualifications.
