Senior Product Design Engineer - Geylang

Our Client: Our client is a well-established FMCG Company, headquartered in Japan. They are currently looking for a Senior Product Design Engineer to join their team in Singapore.

Proficiency in Mandarin is essential to effectively communicate with Chinese Native Stakeholders and Customers.

The Responsibilities:

• Involved in the entire product development lifecycle, bridging the gap between creative ideas and tangible products, from initial concept to final production.
• Manage sourcing of OEM and new products from international suppliers. This includes evaluating and selecting manufacturers and making sure their products meet our quality standards.
• Work closely with Product Designers and other teams (engineering, product management, QA/QC, and marketing) to develop and confirm the mechanical design of products.
• Conduct engineering research to solve design problems and improve product performance. This includes choosing the right materials, optimizing design structures, and ensuring everything meets quality and cost goals.
• Create detailed documents for product specifications, testing, and cost breakdowns to support a smooth move into large-scale production. Work with other teams to ensure the design is practical, high-quality, and efficient to manufacture.
• Have experience with molding processes, including injection molding, compression molding, and Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) molding. Must also understand how to design products that are ready for manufacturing (DFM).

The Requirements:

• Diploma or Degree in Product Design and Product engineering or related field.
• 2 years relevant experience in product engineering in FMCG or related environment.
• Proficient with Rhinoceros, SolidWorks, or other 3D tools, as well as Microsoft Office Suite.
• Hands-on experience in consumer product development.
• Possesses excellent interpersonal and communication skills; strong negotiating and planning skills, strong analytical problem-solving and time management skills.
• Be meticulous, a team player, and able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient in written and verbal communication skills in English and Mandarin to communicate with suppliers in China.
• Knowledge in IEC Standard, ROHS, EMC will be an added advantage
