Manager, Strategic Planning & Media Communications | Up to $6,000

Working Hours: Monday - Thursday 8.30am to 6pm; Friday 8.30am to 5.30pm

Responsibilities:

• Strategic Communications Defining communication considerations/objectives and developing communication strategy and media plans including recommendations on appropriate content, communication channels (mainstream media/online media/social media) and timing of communications actions.
• Content Creation Developing key messages, drafting media releases and preparing other media materials.
• Ability to simplify technical speak for purpose of media reporting is an advantage.
• Media Relations Pitching stories, securing interviews, handling of media queries and building strong trusted relationships with editors and journalists.
• Media Monitoring and Data-analysis
• Tracking media coverage, ensuring accurate reporting, analyzing results and providing relevant communications insights to management.
• Crisis Communications
• Possess a good understanding of issues management and crisis communications.
• Ability to manage communications during a crisis.
• Other Administrative Support
• Compiling media headlines, maintaining communications calendars, coordinating internal emergency preparedness communications training, media event management, vendor management and budget management, where needed.

Requirements:

• Possess degree in Mass Communications or Journalism.
• At least 3 years of experience in media communications.
• Experience in crisis management and planning would be an advantage.
• Knowledge of media landscape and trends with strong media relations and networking skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
