About the role

FMAS is seeking a strategic and creative Asst Manager for Corporate Communications & Marketing to lead our communications, branding, and stakeholder engagement efforts. This role plays a pivotal part in shaping FMAS's public image, managing its corporate narrative, and amplifying the visibility of our projects, partnerships, and impact.

The ideal candidate will possess both strong strategic thinking and hands-on execution skills, with a passion for community development, digital storytelling, and public engagement.

Key responsibilities

Corporate Communications & Public Affairs
  • Develop and lead FMAS’s overall communications strategy to strengthen the organization’s positioning as a trusted national voice for heartland merchants and hawkers.
  • Safeguard FMAS’s corporate reputation through consistent and coherent messaging across all platforms.
  • Craft and oversee the dissemination of press releases, corporate statements, speeches, and key messages for leadership.
  • Manage issues communications and media responses in consultation with the Executive Director and Management Committee.
  • Develop talking points, briefing materials, and media kits for public engagements and stakeholder dialogues.
Marketing & Branding
  • Oversee FMAS’s branding and marketing direction across all projects, programmes, and events.
  • Conceptualize and execute integrated marketing campaigns to raise awareness and participation.
  • Strengthen FMAS’s brand identity through visual consistency, tone of voice, and storytelling across all materials and channels.
  • Drive sponsorship marketing and brand partnership activations in collaboration with project teams.
Digital & Content Strategy
  • Manage FMAS’s digital presence (website, social media, e-newsletters) and ensure timely, impactful content that reinforces FMAS’s mission.
  • Plan and execute content calendars, campaigns, and analytics tracking.
  • Create compelling multimedia assets, including visuals, infographics, and short videos using platforms such as Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Support Member Associations under Shared Secretariat Services with tailored communications and social media strategies.
Stakeholder Engagement & Advocacy
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, media, and corporate partners.
  • Support advocacy efforts through narrative framing, case studies, and success stories showcasing heartland transformation.
  • Strengthen member and partner communications to enhance FMAS’s engagement footprint.
Project & Campaign Management
  • Define project scope, set objectives, and manage budgets, timelines, and performance metrics.
  • Liaise with vendors, agencies, and partners to ensure quality deliverables.
  • Monitor and report on campaign performance, introducing data-driven improvements.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Support precinct revitalization and business development projects with branding and communications expertise.
  • Contribute to membership growth, sponsorship, and fundraising campaigns.
  • Undertake other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or Executive Committee.
Requirements
  • Degree or Diploma in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or a related discipline.
  • 4–6 years of relevant experience in corporate communications, marketing, or branding.
  • Excellent command of English (written and verbal); proficiency in Mandarin or other languages is an advantage.
  • Proven track record in media relations, public affairs, and digital communications.
  • Strong project management, budgeting, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Familiarity with trade associations, SMEs, or community-based organizations preferred.
  • Creative, resourceful, and able to balance strategic planning with hands-on execution.
  • Highly motivated, disciplined, and passionate about community and heritage work.
