Portfolio Strategy & Risk Leadership
- Set and execute the overall strategic direction for the global LNG trading portfolio (spot and term contracts)
- Oversee and optimize portfolio risk exposure (price, volume, credit), ensuring alignment with company-wide P&L objectives
- Develop and approve hedging strategies, and take final responsibility for key derivatives transactions
- Identify structural risks within the portfolio and establish risk limits, governance, and operating frameworks
- Lead the development and expansion of LNG trading and derivatives activities across Asia, the U.S., and Europe
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key global counterparties
- Develop cross-market trading strategies leveraging major benchmarks such as JKM, TTF, and Henry Hub
- Originate and approve high-value structured and exotic transactions involving complex pricing and optionality
- Drive portfolio optimization strategies based on key events (e.g., ADP changes, 90-day SDS, cargo allocation, SPA amendments)
- Maximize portfolio value through effective utilization of physical flexibility (destination swaps, rescheduling, storage, etc.)
- Collaborate with the LNG Structuring team to design innovative trading structures and commercial solutions
- Review and approve major transactions and investment opportunities based on robust economic analysis
- Establish and oversee valuation frameworks, including internal marks for LNG positions (long/short)
- Provide top-down market insights based on supply-demand fundamentals, geopolitics, and regulatory developments
- Ensure alignment with Risk Management (Middle/Back Office) on valuation methodologies and P&L reporting standards
- Lead, manage, and develop the LNG Trading team (performance management, coaching, hiring)
- Act as the primary point of contact for HQ Korea and key stakeholders on trading strategy and performance
- Lead critical decision-making processes on large-scale transactions and sensitive commercial matters
- Report monthly in Korean and quarterly trading performance and strategy to HQ
- Provide executive-level analysis of P&L and key drivers of performance
- Collaborate with HQ on transfer pricing policies and transaction structures in Korean
- Prepare ad-hoc Korean reports and strategic materials to support senior management decision-making
- Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant Field
- 10+ years of experience in LNG, natural gas, or related energy markets
- Strong understanding of the LNG industry, including U.S. Oil & Gas dynamics and European market fundamentals
- Advanced knowledge of derivatives (futures, swaps, options) and risk management frameworks
- Demonstrated leadership experience or equivalent decision-making responsibility in a commercial or trading environment
- Prior experience in leading or managing a trading team (or acting in a team lead capacity) is strongly preferred
- Experience in financial and/or physical transactions within international natural gas markets is a plus
- Proficiency in Korean and English required due to frequent communication with internal and external stakeholders in both languages
