Assistant Director of Nursing - Choa Chu Kang
Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of Nursing plays a critical leadership role in overseeing the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective nursing care within the Nursing Home. This role supports strategic planning, operational excellence, and clinical governance to ensure compliance with national standards, enhance resident outcomes, and promote professional development within the nursing team.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Administration:
- Provide effective leadership and management of the Nursing Department to ensure optimal performance and resident-centered care.
- Review and enhance nursing practices, standards, and service delivery through continuous improvement initiatives.
- Establish and maintain effective communication channels within the department to ensure staff are well-informed on organizational developments and policy changes.
- Oversee the adequacy, proper storage, licensure, and maintenance of medical equipment and consumables, including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and sterile items.
- Ensure the implementation and standardization of Enhanced Nursing Home Standards through policy reviews and monitoring of clinical practices.
- Keep abreast of clinical and managerial developments in the healthcare sector and implement relevant innovations or systems.
- Lead and conduct regular performance appraisals and training needs analysis for nursing staff to promote continuous professional development.
- Ensure accurate maintenance of clinical and staff records in compliance with legal and regulatory frameworks, including the Code of Ethics and Professional Conduct for Nurses.
- Budget, procure, and monitor fixed assets within the Nursing Department effectively.
- Support the Director of Nursing Home in planning and implementing operational projects.
Clinical Governance & Quality Assurance:
- Chair key clinical governance committees such as:
- Infection Control Committee
- Admission Review Committee
- Nursing Quality Assurance Committee
- Foster interdepartmental collaboration and professional alignment through liaison with peers and clinical teams to ensure cohesive care delivery.
- Champion a culture of safety, accountability, and evidence-based practice.
Clinical Care Delivery:
- Ensure high standards of nursing care are delivered through policy adherence, regular audits, and practice reviews.
- Implement structured training programmes using both internal and external resources to meet evolving clinical competencies.
- Enforce professional presentation and conduct standards among nursing staff to uphold the image and integrity of the profession.
Requirement:
- Possess Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
- Postgraduate qualifications in nursing administration, clinical practice, or healthcare management will be an advantage
- Registered with the Singapore Nursing Board (SNB)
- At least 8 years of working experience in a supervisory nursing role
- Proven track record of executive leadership and team management
- Prior experience as Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON) or Director of Nursing (DON) in a nursing home is strongly preferred
- Experience in hospital ward settings will be advantageous
