Applied Materials is looking for a 6 months internship within Supply chain, Industrial engineering, or Operations management Diploma studies to join us!
About the role
This internship provides exposure to regional logistics operations while enabling hands-on project work at a 3PL site to improve process efficiency, data visibility, and operational performance.
Key responsibilities- Assist in process improvement projects at the 3PL warehouse (e.g., automation projects)
- Conduct time studies / process observations to identify inefficiencies, root causes, and improvement opportunities
- Support preparation of work instructions (WI), SOP updates, and training materials to standardize operations and reduce errors
- Drive data collection and analysis for operational metrics (e.g. labor productivity, warehouse space utilization, aging inventory etc)
- Participate in weekly/monthly operational reviews with 3PL and internal teams
- Assist in investigation and closure of operational issues (e.g., 8D), including basic root cause analysis (RCA)
- Work on cross-functionally projects (if any) with Internal stakeholders, and Transportation teams to ensure smooth execution and service recovery when needed
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, basic formulas, charts); PowerPoint for reporting
- Comfortable working with operational data and building basic trackers/dashboards (Smartsheet/Tableau is a plus)
- Exposure to WMS/ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Manhattan, Blue Yonder, or any WMS) is an advantage
- Basic understanding of Lean / Six Sigma / Continuous Improvement tools (e.g., 5 Whys, Pareto, Fishbone, 5S) is a plus
- Strong documentation skills—able to write clear SOPs, workflows, and process maps (Visio is a plus)
- Supply chain, Industrial engineering, or Operations management background
