About the Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and capable Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow to join a collaborative research team at the Innovation Centre of a global sporting goods company in partnership with Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore.

The successful candidate will work at the intersection of polymer science, materials chemistry, and applied materials engineering, contributing to the design, synthesis, and characterization of advanced polymer composites for next-generation sports and lifestyle products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design, prepare, and optimize polymer-based composites with a wide range of functional additives.
  • Perform chemical modification of polymers, including grafting, surface treatment, and advanced processing techniques.
  • Conduct polymer synthesis, polymer blending, and reactive processing.
  • Carry out comprehensive material characterization (films, foams, yarns, and fabrics) using a broad spectrum of analytical tools.
  • Lead and manage multiple concurrent research projects, ensuring timely delivery of milestones and deliverables.
  • Contribute to intellectual property development and scholarly outputs (patents, journal publications).
  • Supervise and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students in relevant research tasks.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional and multi-national research teams.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • A PhD in Polymer Science, Materials Science, Materials Chemistry, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated expertise in polymer processing techniques, including but not limited to extrusion, foaming (PU, EVA, PE), compounding, and film/fiber formation.
  • Proficient in a wide range of material characterization techniques, including FTIR, TGA, DSC, GPC, DMA, XRD, SEM, and mechanical testing.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and adapt to fast-paced research environments.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; additional languages are a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multi-disciplinary and international teams.
  • A strong publication or patent record in polymer composites, functional materials, or related fields.
  • Minimum of 2 to 5 years of relevant research or industrial experience.
