PURPOSE OF JOB
The Continuous Improvement engineer is responsible for driving end to end operational excellence across the plant. The role applies Lean, Six Sigma and other problem-solving methodologies to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost and inventory while meeting company’s quality management systems and regulatory requirements.
This role acts as a change agent, partnering with cross-functional teams to improve performance, reduce variations, eliminate waste and strengthen standard work processes.
JOB FUNCTION- Apply Lean and CI tools such as Value Stream Map, 5 S, Kaizen, Standard Work, Visual Management and Lean Six Sigma across all departments.
- Identify and drive improvements in areas such as cycle time improvement, process flow, planning optimization & schedule compliance, equipment efficiency, inventory optimization and material flow efficiency.
- Collaborate and support functional owners to implement sustainable process changes.
- Analyze operational and quality data to identify trends and improvement opportunities and support root cause analysis for operational issues.
- Manage and track cost savings and improvement results using dashboard.
- Promote Continuous Improvement and Standardization culture by conducting CI workshop, Kaizen events and CI training and awareness across all departments.
- Develop budget for the Continuous Improvement Department.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by complying with all related safety regulations and environmental policies in the company.
- Perform other related tasks as required.
INTERACTION
Internal parties:
- Required to interact with all levels of staff in the local organization and other overseas offices within company.
External parties:
- Responsible for liaising with external suppliers, subcontractors and customers
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related discipline.
- At least 3 years of hands-on experience applying CI tools with proven track records in operation environments.
- Strong analytical, facilitation and communication skills.
- General knowledge of the medical device industry preferred.
- Demonstrated aptitude for process improvement and use of Lean and Six-Sigma resources and tools (preferred).
- Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills with the ability to convey information and ideas in a variety of media, tactful, confident at all levels, internal and external.
Others:
- Identifies and works well in group problem solving situations; presents ideas and information in a manner that gets others' attention and displays willingness to make decisions.
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize, balance, and manage multiple efforts with strong results/goal orientation.
- A senior position may be considered for candidates with more extensive experience.
